So the good news is that we have decided to re-launch our King of Tekkers Academy’s for younger children in 2015 but the crucial question is why?
With a vast number of other football training alternatives available to children and parents, why invest the time, money and effort to enrol with Street Kings UK and join the revolution in the way that football is delivered in this country.
I will answer that question in this post, whilst also highlighting how we differ from many other coaching schools and how your child’s football experience will be not only enjoyable but also beneficial.

I will start by saying that for too long English football has focused too much on results and treated the beautiful game far to seriously from an early age, the belief at Street Kings UK is that children below there mid-teens should see the game entirely as an opportunity for fun, enjoyment, exercise and social interaction with there friends, not a cauldron of pressure, shouting and tactics that go way over their heads. We do not build our model on promises of stardom or a fast-track to professional clubs, we build our ethos on bringing young people together in a safe place of fun to practise a sport that they have naturally chosen to want to improve at whilst also interacting socially and staying healthy.
We want our players to feel the sense of freedom we did when we were down the local park in our younger years, exploring the football, using our imaginations and feeling free to experiment with the game at our own pace, a Street Kings coach is there solely for guidance, advice, tips and supervision NOT to put pressure on players to perform to a level they may not be capable of yet or to lecture children to the point that they fall out of love with the game.
All of our King of Tekkers sessions are delivered to upbeat music, with a simple message:- when the music is playing its the players time to play and when the music stops its the coaches time to lead. The idea behind the music is that with loud music being played players will be elevated with the music and not feel an atmosphere of being watched or judged by parents or coaches.
Okay, so I think I make the point clear about how our approach to coaching is different but what makes the sessions different other than the music??.
When a player enrols with Street Kings UK to a King of Tekkers Academy they are issued with their very own personalised workbook. This workbook then becomes their soccer bible, it is their individual skills assessment to be worked on in a structured way but at their own pace.
The workbooks contain 5 Modules with 5 separate areas of play and 3 levels to complete within each area. Foundation, Intermediate and Master. Each session is structured to include an of the booklet and coaches will award a stamp in players booklets when they are satisfied they have mastered a certain technique to a certain level. This is sometimes by way of an individual demonstration or a coach may notice something particularly good during the session and award a stamp on the spot.
It is key to remember that the aim of the King of Tekkers Academy is to work on players individual technique BUT it is crucial I mention that when players join an academy they join a group, we believe the opportunity to make new friends, socialize with your peers and interact in a fun atmosphere is just as critical as progressing through the booklets.
#Play beautiful is our motto and in our quest to bring a splash of informal Brazilian type flair back to the English game we hope to bring smiles back to the young children who choose Football as there priority sport. Our aim is to offer an opportunity for enjoyment every time they attend a session, with the belief that tactics, formations and winning DO have a place in the game but at a certain age mastering the football, having fun and enjoying yourself with your friends is far more important.
*That all said, should a player show a particular flair, feedback will always be given to parents with advice about how best to nurture that talent and where the next sensible steps are for his or her progression in the game.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
